Diflucan is the original name of antifungal drug of the group triazoles, which has an international nonproprietary name fluconazole. The drug in 1982, was synthesized in the laboratories of the French firm "Pfhizer", patented, and since the early 90-ies of the last century is widely used in the treatment of diseases caused by rot fungi.
The description of the drug
The main active substance – fluconazole – has the ability to inhibit metabolic processes in the fungus cell by binding and inhibiting a specific substance – cytochrome P-450, included in a large number of enzyme systems fungal cells. In the human body also has the substance, but the selectivity of Diflucan in relation to it is ten times lower.
Diflucan can also block the processes of formation of a protective cell membrane (inhibits the synthesis of specific substances – sterols), increases its permeability, interferes with the recovery of damaged membranes.
The main spectrum of actions of Diflucan is a vast group of diseases (from skin lesions to meningitis and systemic lesions of the body), which are caused by yeasts or yeast-like fungi Candida spp, Cryptococcus neoformans, dermatophytes , some fungi , dimorphic forms.
Men – conducted local treatment antifungal medicines in the form of creams, ointments together with the simultaneous intake of Diflucan at the same dose and frequency as that of the women. Both partners are advised to strictly refrain from sexual life.
In chronic forms of vulvovaginal candidiasis, vulvitis (thrush) treatment strategy is to accurately determine the cause, provoking the repeated development of thrush with the simultaneous intake of 150 mg of diflucan twice with an interval of 3 days. After assigned to 150 mg on the first day of the menstrual cycle for 6 – 12 months. Treatment in men and women is no different.
